Golden Blossoms Wrap

A favourite flowering tree inspired this multi-directional wrap but,
in truth, I see it as an ode to all blooming things. Knit on size 9mm/US
13 needles in a stash-busting mix of everything from cotton to silk (with
all that lies between), this is the perfect project for a summer afternoon
while nested deep in your own secret garden.
The triangle back grows easily with increased stitches at the beginning
of every row while the two sides are knit separately length-wise. Another
option shown in the Garden View version, is to knit the two front sides
as part of the back thus avoiding sewing. Add a pointy end on one side
or not and you’ve grown yourself an interesting but surprisingly
easy alternative to a summer cardigan when all you need is a little shoulder
shelter.
An added feature is a few rows of openwork through which thick ribbons
are woven for a little extra eye appeal. ‘Strippon’ additions
of silk ribbons streaming from the edges enhance the effect.

Culture Fushion Wrap

Celebrate global culture with this Culture Fushion wrap knit in predominantly
black, rust and neutrals, a color combination easy to match using any
DK-weight yarn. Stitchery is simple garter, drop-stitch, seed, and yarnovers
with i-cords added from which to dangle your personal collection of buttons
and beads.
The shape couldn’t be easier: three elongated points to flip down
your back and over the shoulders. Make your points as long as you want
or ease up on the drama by making them shorter to suit your tastes. Besides
the beaded i-cords, larger beads give aplomb at both the central back
point and at the ends of both left and right fronts. Try yours in a different
color combo. How about beachy neutrals festooned with shells? What about
a spicy salsa color mix dangling with Mexican charms? Or, think pinky
creams mingling with the soft glimmer of freshwater pearls. If you can
dream it, you can knit it!

Feather 'n Fan Organic Wrap

What happens if you ‘grow’ a wrap rather than simply knit
it and think of a pattern as a seed rather than a plan?
Well, here’s the result: a surprisingly gleeful ruffle of color
and texture that hugs your shoulders and drapes like a dream. Knit on
size 11US/8mm and 13US/9mm circuliar needles, the beloved feather and
fan stitch unfolds in gorgeous flights of texture and color to showcase
any yarn to it's best advantage. Mix in mohair to create misty waves
amid ridges of chunky fare; add streams of luminesent silk or cotton
for a lacy effect amid the hills and valleys. Any yarn, any weight, any
fiber, will do. Each combination creates a unique effect and no two projects
will or should look the same. The pattern includes suggestions on how
to create 'Mist over the Mountain' effects, 'Lace Wings' or 'Foothills
and Valley's' as well as a scarf variation of the pattern.

Four Winds Wrap

The season changes sending gold-charged light through the trees. Leaves
ripen burnished on the branches as cool chills the air. Celebrate the
change with the Four Winds Wrap, a big, luxurious piece of wearable art
to knit on large needles with lots of lustrous yarn in shades of luminous
orange and toasted reds. One end sports a single big leaf dangling from
an i-cord from which bands of drop stitch and seed gradually widen into
a central long leaf motif in simple intarsia. Moving from the leaf motif
to the other end, the wrap slowly tapers to a straight edge from which
a trio of beaded leaves fall.
Sound complicated? Make it as complex or easy as you want, as big or
small as you desire. Skip the leaves and tie on beribboned streamers
or bypass the intarsia motif in favour of garter or continued drop and
seed. In free-range knitting, the spirit moves you and every created
item is one of a kind. THERE SIMPLY IS NO WRONG WAY.
Stitches used: seed, garter, drop, yarn over, i-cord and slip stitch
(for the 3-dimensional leaves). The drop stitches create an open, flowing
wrap with a lovely drape.
Remember that knitting free-range style requires a different approach
than regular, pattern-driven knitting. Here, it’s necessary to
release your expectations of achieving an outcome EXACTLY LIKE THE ORIGINAL.
Free range knitting is about following your own knitting spirit and letting
go. Make your creation uniquely your own (with a little help from me
along the way), using a process as loose and flowing as the wind itself.

Botany Wrap

Think wicker chairs in sunlit conservatories where watercolor prints
hang to evoke leaf and stem no matter what the season. But here spring
is in the air with a lace wrap joined at the shoulders that bears an
intarsia framed botantical ‘print’ on it’s back.
Knit on 5mm/US 8 needles primarily in two shades of Fleece Artist’s
Lady Godiva, this wrap can be worn open at the sides, tied with an i-cord,
or sewn into a sleeved cardigan (instructions included).
Fear of intarsia? Knit the back panel in a lovely hand-dyed yarn using
simple basketweave stitch for a framed effect. One size fits sizes small
to 1X.

Amber and Onyx

Looking for something to spice up basic black? Here,
shades of translucent, buttery, amber contrast with the mysterious deep
onyx hue to create this sophisticated wrap knit with bands of seed among
rows of simple yarnover lace. The effect is airy yet substantial with
a back panel threaded with ribbon to create yet another dimension. Optional
amber dangles anchor the wraps two ‘wings’.
The mood is created by honeyed strands of Collinette’s Giotto tape
in Lichen mixed with black Crystal Palace Mikado and a mix of special
effect yarns like lash, ladder and ribbon. Besides being knit across
the piece in some places, the ribbon is threaded through the yarnover
stitches in the back for added pizazz. Elegant enough for a ball, this
wrap could carry you through the holiday season by perking up that black
ensemble or, tossed over jeans and a tee, sail you anywhere any time.

Pralines and Cream Wrap

"Despite the high-calorie name, the wrap is designed to go above
your waist and not on it! A mix of textures simply knit in shades of
French vanilla and burnt sugar create a yummy design that’s easy
to wear. With ends long, lean and perfect for tying, you could don this
over a tee and jeans or swathed it over a summer dress for the most versatile
of chill-busters. It is knit end to end with primarily smooth ribbon
tapes and a mixture of cottons and specialty textures, most of which
are widely available in yarn stores or on the ‘net. Duplicate the
colors exactly or try your own two-toned effect. It's a design that adapts
well to any color scheme."

Scotian Meadow Wrap

"Here's a cozy snuggle of a wrap designed to fend off salt-air
chills and the fiercest air conditioning attacks. It will sail into Fall
with grace. One long basket weave-stitched rectangle undulating with
seed stitch borders, it’s irregular edges gently widen as the design
progresses towards the center, forming a shawl collar with an optional
button closure. Any mix of yarns, including cotton, wool, silk and mohair
will work. It's worked on size 9mm needles and designated at the 'intermediate'
level only because it encourages the knitter to take a free-range approach
to knitting. No need to be an expert to knit this pattern but an adventurous
spirit helps!"
