SURFACE DESIGN AND FREE RANGE-KNITALONG
|

Trust me on this one: this asymetrical design is extremely flattering to all shapes. I wore mine with a turtleneck or long-sleeved sweater in the winter and Hannah, as you see, tossed hers over a swimsuit in summer or over jeans. The design is loose and unstructured: one size fits anywhere from size 6 to 2X.
And, if the thought of wearing all that striking color throws you off, consider this: you could always knit this baby tone-on-tone. Think black or cream.
Besides, this could be the ultimate stash-buster. Look at the dominent color in your stash and use that as your lead. Or buy yourself a big hank of some hand-dyed or multicolored yarn to get started.
A few of the we'll be doing together:
But, more importantly, we'll be exploring knitting as art. Please join me on the expedition starting next week.

| I would love to try freerange knitting. I've always been too inhibited, but what the heck!! |

| I am really excited about this project!! I'm currently knitting a sweater that I promised I would finish before starting anything else!! But I just have to join in... I may be a little slower than others due to my available knitting time... I'm looking forward to getting started and getting to know everyone! I found about this from Rhonda's site by the way! |

| What an amazing adventure in individual creativity this will be. It will be terrific to share the final result, because no two will be alike! Thank you, Jane for your generous spirit. Lenita |

| I think I may just try this-it sounds so exciting although intarsia sounds frightening! I am not much more than a beginner-but I'll trust you (gulp). |

| ...Another thought on this one: Perfect timing for those of us who may carry a few extra pounds amd trying to diet. Being able to wear this gorgeous thing and show a little midrif is a good motivator to shed the pounds and work out on the "6-pack!" ...Maybe I can get aerobic while I get that waiting hank of yarn into balls? |

| Jane, What a lovely, lovely idea. I just bought one of your patterns and have been accumulating an appropriate stash. It may get used for this instead. Or...an excuse for more collecting of odd bits. What needles sizes are we guessing and should they be circs? Probably need to pull from other WIPs. Thank you. Let the adventure begin!! |

| I'm ready! What a great knit-a-long! Can't wait to see everyone's pictures, as I am sure we will all produce very different masterpieces! |

| Yay! I'll join! I just started spinning so any excuse to make a myriad of yarns works for me. Since you mentioned that you will be giving hints and pieces of the pattern little by little do you have an expected time frame that this will last? |

| What a super idea. A "Mystery" knit-a-long. I used to do these kinds of adventures in quilting and always loved the outcome. Count me in! |

| Jane, how did you know I've been buying lovely yarn in blue and green shades? Not my ususal. All expensive beauties so I only have a couple of balls of each. This project is just the thing. Thanks! |

| Uh-oh, Jane, I just might have to do this! But the word "intarsia" does make me hesitate.... |

Hello Jane, Before I read you I was the "knitting in one yarn all the way" type of person, except maybe for color changes. You have changed me. I now think outside the box. For inspiration, I've jumped into my bead box as well. This knitalong is just the thing to get me started with a real project, although I already have a few of your patterns and was in the thinking process with regards to fiber choices. I will follow assiduously and participate actively. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge and letting us join in. I'm doing the little happy dance thing too ... Waiting for next week with great anticipation. Christiane |

Ya-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-y!!!!!!!!! Oh Jane! ...Am I ever doing a happy dance!!! I must have died and gone to knitting heaven! This is such a totally cool idea. At first I thought: What if I want to move faster than the knit-a-long is? Then I thought: Hey! you like this so much, do two at the same time in different colors! Consider yourself smooched! I love it! Mardi |

Jane, I've been following your blog for a couple of months now having found you one while cruising around the net. I haven't posted because I don't usually get into chat rooms etc. But I just had to respond after seeing this post. I can't wait to join in the knit along. I love artwear and design and teach fiber art jacket classes. I also combine my knitting and fabric in jackets. Anyway, I'm looking forward to joining you in the adventure. Maryanne |
