TIS THE SEASON TO BE….KNITTING

The Woven Woods Vest
Wanted: Knitters Seeking Inspiration for 2010. Speaking of which, how do you find inspiration? In exotic lands, faraway places? Well they help, believe me, but travel doesn't have the market cornered on inspiration. Try looking for it underfoot. One day last month I wandered out to my backyard and chanced to see a lichen-covered rock which set me pondering on ways to express lichen, dried leaves, bark and twigs in knitting. Back inside I went and fiddled around with my stitch dictionaries while swatching various colors and textures and then, vioila! the idea for the Woven Woods Vest came to life.
A shaped vest knit exclusively with 'ombre seed' (regular k1, p1 infused with blended color) around which bands of textury linen stitch finish the effect. It only requires a single button to bring closure but I wear mine open. The design comes with a coordinating cowlet for the neck and keeps company with the Thousand Branches Kimono in my new Winter Forest Guide, 29 pages of winter inspiration and designs.
The booklet will be on sale here on my site by next week but I just posted it in advance through Ravelry. The guide is also one of two book options for the Inspired Knitters Club members.
Ready for inspiration?
