RIPENING INTO AUGUST

The Ripenings Shrug awaits a late August posting...
The wild raspberries edging our forest deepen their hue by the day as the blueberries turn plump in the bushes. Soon the deep crimson of the cranberries will turn the bogs to scarlet in a explosion of ripening that heralds the season of fruition. It's as if every day is enriched with the flavor of growing things.
Above, I reveal the next pattern to be posted in late August, an ode to the season: the Ripenings Wrapped Shrug.
All feather and fan stitch, it blooms lacey swoops across a wrapped front, one side of which is tossed over the shoulder and fastened by a pin. A bit of a Scottish hybrid, don't you think? Highland Fling Goes High Bush Blueberry? Personally, I'll be wearing mine with dark indigo denims and a deep purple tee and plan to take it to Italy in October. I simply love it and look forward to showing you the design both on me and on my goddess model, Hannah, later this summer , all to prove that it's a design that suits both the devine and, well, the rest of us...

The Ripenings Shrug will be part of a three-pattern set entitled 'The Feather n Fan Club' which will include one other new pattern plus the Feather n Fan Organic Wrap. The accompanying booklet delves deep into the spirit of feather n fan with detailed guides for color blending and shaping with the stitch.
