ORGANIC FEATHER ‘N FAN WRAP PATTERN POSTED
Or, How Does your Knitting Grow?

It grew. Really. Well, sort of… you see, a set of size 9mm circular needles plus my trusty stash fueled in me the urge to explore feather and fan like a gardener. By planting my stitches along the curving shape of the needle and sowing in furrow after furrow of bronzy greens tempered by the eternally optimistic shade of magenta, something elemental unfolded. It's as if the wrap followed its own genetic code only needing me to fertilize here and there (casting on additional stitches) and pruning (casting off at the appropriate times). Okay, am I stretching this metaphor to the breaking point? Anyway, the point is the wrap unfolded much as a garden does in endless surprize and frequent delight.

And about feather and fan: is there another stitch that provides so many delicious moments? Blend yarns from your stash and watch the wonder unfold in textured landscapes. Silky yarns roaming next to misty mohair, chunky ribbons making textury grooves. Plus the stitch's wavy effect creates a gentle ruffle along the bottom—feminine without being frilly, old-fashioned yet modern all at the same time.
The pattern provides blending suggestions plus a menu on how to seed 'Misty Mountain' feather and fan effects along with 'Lacy Wings' and 'Foothill Furrows' just by combing different yarn types probably in your stash. As always, this design mixes multiple yarns, any weight, any type. Trust me: this design is fun.

A scarf variation is also included. Next week, I'll be posting more information on that scarf in time for quick gift-giving. Pattern link here: http://www.janethornley.com/patterns_sale.html
Also, I'm sorry to say that I've finally broken down and raised my pattern prices after holding steady for two years. Rising costs have backed me in a corner. SORRY! I hate doing this, I really do.
