OF CALENDARS, FOREIGN CLIMES AND MY VERY OWN VIRTUAL CAT

A view from my garden: reality comes in minus signs
I awoke from a dream where I slept nestled inside a perfumed garden with fountains tinkling nearby my open window above which sang a feast of stars. Should I open my eyes, I knew I'd see blooming color, fresh fruits ready for the picking and probably Nanoo, the house cat, sleeping a deep illegal sleep on my bed....but, alas! When my eyes opened, reality came streaming through in shades of winter: white, cool blues and a feeble sunshine trying to light a fire over North East Canada. 'No longer in Morocco,' I mourned while stumbling around making a pot of tea. As a draft sneaked up on chilly legs, my only consolation knowing that here, at least, I'm closer to my stash! Home is anywhere you rest your stash, remember that. Still, I think I'd rather be here:

Spain, where snow has the good grace to stay on the mountains rather than my doorstep...
Since my return, I have not been idle, my friends. Besides getting ready for Stitches West, I'm writing up the 'Culture Fushion Wrap' pattern, working on final details for multiple trips and knitting like mad! Sadly, Morocco08 does not have enough participants to get off the ground this year so it's being postponed until April09. In the, meantime, why not join us in Spain this May? Can there be a better setting for a knitting retreat than a Spanish country house designed for knitters and crocheters?
But many months of winter still exist and we may all need a little booster to help us through. Everybody needs inpiration to fuel the long days of winter or just to keep the imagination alive during another day at work. Anything suffused with color and light keeps me going, especially if it’s color found in unusual or exotic locations or captured in the way light hits a particuliarly vivid piece of textile art. Inspiration certainly lives in my stash and probably yours, too. Calendars serve a very important function for me in this. They can be hung someplace visible, written over to mark a special event, and serve to keep a soul company when beautiful things seem too far away. Every year I buy myself a calendar or four but this year I decided to make my own. I'm calling it 'Journey into Light and Color: A Fiber-lovers Calendar'. If you would like to purchase a copy, you can do so through Lulu here: http://www.lulu.com/content/1788278 A collection of some of my favorite images, mine hangs over my desk to remind me of all the wonder of the world.
A Regular Dose of Inspiration: take Monthly
And for cat lovers everywhere, I leave you with this photo taken in Morocco of a cat named Nano. For the longest time, I've pondered the high incidence of cats associated with knitting blogs and felt a little out of the furry loop. Being allergic to cats, I could hardly have one lounging around my stash the way so many knitters do, could I? After meeting Nano in Morocco, I decided to adopt her virtually so I, too, could have a knitting kitty.

It's a pampered kitty who gets to drink from a petal-strewn marble basin!
