MESSAGES FROM A VIOLET FALL…

Coming soon: Feather n Fan Organic Wrap
When I first finished the Feather n Fan Organic wrap above, a design I 'grew' rather than knit, it struck me as totally over the top. A ruffled explosion of color and texture, the wrap hugged my shoulders before drifting down the back (unless I had it loosely tied up front) in this insouciant splendor. And then there was the color: magenta and green, little brazen bronze streams of old gold threading through all. Magenta and green! Has my inner wild child found her way to the surface yet again?
I posted it on Ralvery to a pile of excited reviews and thus the Feather'nFan Organic Wrap was born—oh, wait, evolved. Here's the thing: you grow this piece rather than knit it. Knit like a gardener, that's true organic spirit.
Now, this design has become my new most favorite. I'm working on the pattern now and it will likely be posted by early next week. Meantime...

View from my kitchen window
Autumn took on a violet hue late October, early November, with early mornings awash in this otherwordly shade of blueberry indigo tinged with an intense, beyond-this-galaxy ultraviolet. The last of my hydrangeas clung to the branches still sulking that I'd chosen Tuscany over their best show while the river sent little messages to remind me of the passing of time. Okay, message received: sometimes the most intense beauty is just beyond one's inner vision.

Message from the flow...
Besides writing up the pattern, I've also been busy preparing for an artisan show and sale I'm doing locally in November by knitting scarves. Oh, I love knitting these concoctions of textures and beads! They knit up quickly and make perfect gifts. Following the pattern posting, I'm going to post little scarf recipes perfect for making quick but gorgeous gifts for the holiday season. To prepare, gather together some woven ribbons, preferably silk (I know, I can't help it!) to festoon your creations plus your most delectable yarns. Small quantities of each are all that's needed.
I also have updated both the Spain and Morocco excursion pages—check them out-- and continue working on posting photos of Knitaly07 for Knitaly08, which is half full though still a year away.
