LET INSPIRATION FIND YOU WHERE IT MAY
TAKE YOUR INSPIRATION WHERE IT FINDS YOU
I can be strolling along my deck, lost in thought, perhaps on my way to water a plant when suddenly I'm ambushed by inspiration. One day it's the sight of water flowing down the river that leaves me wondering 'How can I translate the river's flow into stitches?' and, on the next, I'm left pondering the color combinations found in the natural world.
Maybe a flower pot doesn't quite fit in the 'natural' category but blame the combination above for the latest manefestation of the Hydrangea top. Minding my own business one day, I strolled by my coleus and huchera combo when the need hit me to recreate it (with modificatons, of course). Out came my size 4 mm needles and my thinnest yarn as I happily lost myself in waves of color. Forgive me but I'm fixated with feather and fan. Those little yarn oversand knit-two-togethers create such magical effects with different yarns. I can't get enough.
If you are familiar with Hydrangea in the most recent guide, shaping is created with a single set of feather and fan in the center of the piece which drawns the top into a lovely swoop around the neck with a curved bottom edge. Here, I explore the mixtures further by creating a cardigan in jewel-likr purples and turquoises mixed with tweedy browns.
Experiment with flat next to garter
And when not knitting…
