FIRE AND ICE

Fire and Ice
There's a snow storm coming and I'll be greeting this pending gusto with mixed feelings. On one hand, I'll have that cosy-down-and-snuggle-in kind of Sunday where I'll be deeply absorbed in the things I love best (writing, designing, knitting…eating) while the woodstove warms the house's heart. On the other hand, I can't go anywhere, not that I want to exactly. You see my conumdrum. Snow always effects me this way.
On our first snow dusting, I went outside just as the sun rose over the trees, clutching my newest jewelry creation, Ice Age. Holding the stone up to the light, I photographed it, amazed by what I saw in the digital imagery after the fact. It's as if the hunk of agate had absorbed the sun, soaking it deep into it's prehistoric depths like some ancient talisman of earth and fire. Earth, meet fire. Fire, meet earth.
Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow…
You can check out a less illuminated version of this piece on the jewelry page of this website.
