CULTURE FUSHION CREATIVITY CONTEST : PLEASE VOTE
The launching point
I appologize for asking you to do the near-impossible: choose just one favorite from this explosion of creative energy witnessed here. Weeks ago, my group in Ravelry decided to do a knit along based on my Culture Fushion wrap pattern. The rules: - You may begin knitting any time after March 9 2008. You must completely finish your wrap and post pictures by April 19 2008.
- Follow the Culture Fusion Wrap pattern available from Jane’s website: janethornley.com
- Choose a theme based on a place you have visited, or want to visit, or even a fantasy place that exists in your mind.
- Choices in yarns are up to you, and creativity is greatly encouraged.
- Minor deviations from the pattern are acceptable, but it must definitely be recognizable as the CF pattern.
- Embellishments are up to you, and should enhance the theme, rather than be just an add-on.
- Post an explanation of your theme, tying your yarns/beads/colors/etc to a location/theme. Photos are highly encouraged.
- Please share as you go (yarn choices, theme ideas, how you see it shaping up, etc., to include any challenges you are having), as this is meant to be a learning and inspirational experience for all of us. In this way, we will all be winners!
- Judging will be by vote, Jane will be the presiding judge in case of a tie.
Now the contestants have posted their gorgeous wraps and I am so relieved that I am exempt from voting because I love them all. Each is an act of self-expression and each defines its knitter in some significant way. All of us, even those who weren't participating in the knitalong, gathered at the 'well', as one of the Ravelry members calls our group, to share stories, dreams, and creative musings. These wraps are born of support and the total belief that art lies in all of us. Here's the proof. Based on anything from a beach, to a long ago childhood memory to a favorite flower or color combination, this creative explosion is what free-range knitting is all about.
Please try to select just one favorite and place your vote here: http://www.polldaddy.com/poll.aspx?p=542012 Sorry that I don't have the photos grouped in the order they are listed on the voting site but each one is named accordingly. If a member of Ravelry, better photos of the entries are available here: http://www.ravelry.com/discuss/jane-thornley/142713/1-25#15 . The winner will receive a kit and one of my new scarf pins. Voting will take place over the next week. Post yours today!
