AROUND THE WORLD IN 80 Wraps Knitalong with Prizes!

Guatamala Inspires Knikki...
Are you ready for the Around the World in 80 Wraps Knitalong??? The KAL was invented by Mardi in my Ravelry group and soon many other creative knitters joined in for the fun. You don't have to be on Ravelry to join in (though, admittedly, it helps) because I'll post photos and information along with my regular postings. The mission here is to be creative, allow your own sense of culture and place find expression in a pattern that serves as a blank canvas only. Here's the specs Mardi compiled:
Hi everyone, There’s a KAL/challenge/contest posted in the Jane Thornley Group that I thought some FreeForm Forum people might be interested in.
Anyone is welcome to join and participate.
For any changes, updates, or details of the contest, please refer to the thread: Culture Fushion Wrap: Around the World in 80 Days (i.e., this post you’re reading is just an announcement, not the sourcepoint for info).
Here’s a snippet of info:
Welcome to the Culture Fushion Wrap free range knitalong. Participants will take this design and make it uniquely their own by having it reflect a favorite culture, dream destination, or vacation memory. Start collecting and organizing your stash: yarn, ribbons, beads, strippons, embellishments. If posssible, post your inspiration photos in this thread. We’d love to see them!
Here are the rules:
- We begin on March 9, 2008, and end on April 9, 2008.
- Follow the Culture Fusion Wrap pattern available from Jane’s website: janethornley.com.
- Choose a theme based on a place you have visited, or want to visit, or even a fantasy place that exists in your mind.
- Choices in yarns are up to you, and creativity is greatly encouraged.
- Minor deviations from the pattern are acceptable, but it must definitely be recognizable as the CF pattern.
- Embellishments are up to you, and should enhance the theme, rather than be just an add-on.
- Please share as you go (yarn choices, theme ideas, how you see it shaping up, etc., to include any challenges you are having), as this is meant to be a learning and inspirational experience for all of us. In this way, we will all be winners!
- Judging will be by vote, Jane will be the presiding judge in case of a tie. (and, I add, the first prize will be a Florentine Scarf Kit and the runner up a scarf pin from my new Inspired&Adorned collection).
Here's more inspiration behind the knitalongers stoking their needles for the event. All photos are by the participants. Besides Knikki's Guatamalan intepretation above, we have:

Vicki's Arizona

Iiva's enchanted Norwegan forest (troll lurking)

Gel's Misery Bay

Mardi's China

Sharon's hot salsa Mexican stash

Carla's Venice brew..

Libby's cherry clouds
Ready to allow yourself a booster shot of creativity? To particpate, stoke up your inspiration through a photo of something that you find cratively stimulating , purchase a copy of your basic 'canvas' Culture Fushion Wrap Pattern here: http://www.janethornley.com/patterns_wraps.html#14 and either send me your photo or join the Ravelry Jane Thornley Group, KAL thread.
The prizes: First prize: a Kit
Second Prize: A pin (similiar to but not exactly like one shown)
