2010 Workshops and Retreats

The Hotel Perry
Now imagine this: it is September and the world around you mellows into autumn gold, the air is turning crisp yet not chill. You are among like-minded fiber lovers sipping your drink of choice on a beautiful old wrap-round porch by the lake. At your fingertips, a treasure trove of gorgeous yarns is readily accessible—sari silks, twisted cottons flecked with beads, lush silken ribbons that flow across your fingers like water and all in colors tantalizingly rich. On your lap unfolds a knitting adventure both exhilerating yet stress-free. 'No mistakes exist', you hear me remind you all' as we knit together.
Yes. This September I'm coming to Petosky, Lake Michighan, a lovely little historic town caught in a simpler time where we will have nothing more pressing to do for a few days but eat, enjoy one another's company, play with gorgeous yarn and knit. Did mention eat? Oh, yes, we might get up and go for a walk once in awhile—so many lovely places to wander, after all, but, really, no have-tos exist in this realm.
Isn't this a perfect dream scenario? Well, consider it reality on the brew. You know how I love Mango Moon's yarns—richly textured, lots of silk at reasonable prices, BEADS! and so much more, including sponsorship of cooperatives in Napal. Well, does it get any better in the yarn world? So, when the opportunity came for me to lead a workshop with such a fiber feast, I leapt at the opportunity. Here's the details:
Arrival Sunday, Sept, 19 - departure Thursday, Sept. 23, 2010
$525 per person double occupancy (single supplement $195) which includes 3 days of workshops, 4 nights' lodging, arrival buffet on Sunday, three meals plus a snack on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, and breakfast on Thursday. If you have more questions, please contact Mary Lou LaGrassa at .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) and register directly with Mango Moon at their website here: http://www.mangomoonyarns.com/index.php

KNITALY—THE BOOK: Knitaly, an Adventure in Knitting

At last, my book.
I would hesitate to call this a pattern book, though it has eight detailed patterns, and I wouldn't call it a travel guide, though I write about Tuscany. This is more of an adventure in Tuscan inspiration, a plunge into la dolce vita with color and texture as much an expression of the good life as food and beautiful scenery. Every design begins with color taken from the Tuscan countryside, a combination of hues which translate into a fiber feast for knitterly enjoyment. Read about how I pay homage to Siena, the revered city of golden brown, or the way in which olive groves and rolling fields can be knit into a wrap. Or, see how a shady grotto can be transformed into a silken fall of moss and stone for a very special scarf.
If you can dream it, you can knit it.
For purchase information, click on 'BOOKS' in the index.
Sample pages from the book…

Among the patterns: a loose vest which can we worn belted or free; a cardigan with a vest option; a top which can be made into a dramatic wrap; a jacket which could grow into a coat; two wraps, and a scarf which could grace the neck of a Renaissance cortier or a biker chick with equal aplomb. What began as five patterns, developed into 8+.
Check in April for sale details. I will have a link to purchase available from my website and anticipate the book will be available online fromBorders and Amazon by late spring.
