Summer Knitting..

My summer office early morning...
Summertime and the livin' is easy....and hot. These days, as the temperature in my little upstairs loft sizzles it way into the high twenties (80+ fahrenheit), I've been forced to move my office down to the river. Such hardship. I pack up my laptop and knitting bag and park my 'briefcase' in the tent so I can alternate between rat-a-tapping on my keyboard and swimming in the 'pool'. After emerging from the water (water temps yesterday peaked at 27 degrees celsius or 84 F), I dry off while knitting or reading or sketching, my legs extended in homage to the sun.
Another view: my summer intents
Oh, I so love this. I, who count travel and exploration among my passions, never wants to leave my front doorstep in the summer. I become a homebody, house being cottage, too. My ideal day: in the morning working on my blog, answering emails, visiting Ravelry, working at my jewelry desk, and then, as the temperature climbs, retreating to the riverdeck with all the day's needs. Each day ends with a barbecue consisting of grilled meat and vegetables, usually served with a side of friends who drop by for a visit and a swim. Today my friend, Edith, is coming over with my new dog-daughter, Jetta, a standard poodle puppy. Will Jetta swim if mom and dog-mother do? Ah, the weighty matters that occupy my days.
Oh, but knitting, you want to know about knitting. On my needles today:

An autumn design blooms amid the clamatis
I knit in summer while dreaming of fall, a typical designer's preoccupation. In my mind's eye, grows a collection of feather n fan stitch based projects including a wrapped autumn shrug (sleeve emerging above), a cardigan and something as yet unformed. The colours? Here, burnished reds, deep purples, violet limmed with gold. Also, fall's evocative knitting workshop is entitled 'The Forest for the Trees'.
