IN VOGUE

THIS ISSUE!
Yes, being in Vogue is a very big thing for me, no matter how small the article. So what if the column reads 'Made in Canada'? I am, after all. Made in Canada, that is. Besides, what's made this mention so special is that I share the Made in Canada spotlight with my good friend, fellow-designer and inspiration pal, Ilga Leja, who also lives here in Nova Scotia.
The column's author, fasinated by our weekly walks and how Ilga and I support and influence one another despite having very different aesthetics, gave a paragraph to our creative think-tanks. We are so lucky to have one another, it's true. Ilga's classic with a twist, a meastro of the creative application of lace among other techniques, whereas I am, well, you know, organic and free-range and more than a little over-the-top. Still, ours is a friendship and designer relationship which is not competetive. In the past, both of us have experienced organizations that encourage sometimes ruthless tactics to appear better and more qualified than another contender, making us committed to avoiding such behaviors in our new lives. No pointless meetings, no deadening deadlines (unless of our own choosing), no hoops, no three-ring-circus, just time to breathe, to dream and create. And reserve a whole day for walking and talking together. Yes, this is bliss.
Last week, Lucy Neatby joined us for lunch and, believe me, we didn't run out of things to talk about!
