BOTANICA WRAP/SHAWL/CARDIGAN EMERGING

I really thought this would be a cardigan-- that was the plan-- but it kept heading off into a different direction, taking unplanned tangents without my permission. It can be such a trial when one part of your brain is up to something while the rest of you is watching television, daydreaming, or some combination of the two. Do my design sisters out there find the same thing happening? I did sketch this out, which usually sends out an APB that I'm serious about what I want the end result to be but free range brain parts started thinking, well, wouldn't this be interesting as a capey/shawl,wrap thing? The construction seemed different and that part of my brain in the driver's seat just kept on experimenting while I was semi-engaged with other things. Lesson to be learned there, which I'll probably promptly forget.. Okay, so this is what I thought I wanted...

And this is what I think I'm getting, a light, lacy construction with a simple lace pattern and a back intarsia insert of leaves. So far, the front is still emerging so we'll have to see where that ends up but I'm picturing this as an alternative to a spring cardigan with the ease of a wrap.:

And this is where it is so far, side view, unblocked:

PS: TODAY'S THE MAGIC BIRTHDAY AND I'M IN MAINE!
