NEW KNITTING KITS

AMBER&ONYX kit

Many knitters prefer their vistas to be cosy and contained—no endless forages for the right yarns in the right shades for them. They'd prefer their fiber wonders collected and pre-wound in exactly the colors they desire, all delivered to their door to be opened at their liesure like a special present worth savoring. Finally, after countless messages requesting my designs in just such kits, I grasped the message: 'Get it together for me, Jane, please'.

Well, it took me awhile but I finaly figured out how to do exactly that but, at long last, the perfect answer: Jackie. Jackie Glider, my partner-friend in California, is gathering the exact yarns used in my designs, seeking them out nearly the nanosecond I complete the design (before certain yarns dip into the extinction list), winding the hanks into knit-ready balls complete with pattern and even optional beads, and making it all available in beautifully-packaged kits. Hannah silks, Tilli Tomas beaded yarns, Prism, hand-dyed ribbons are just some of the fibers you'll find prewound in the right amounts waiting for your needles to hum. Did you swoon after costing out full hanks of all the yarns used in one of my designs? Fear not: help is on the way. Now you can purchase just what you need.

FLORENTINE SCARF-LACE KIT

The Florentine Scarf Lace (a hybrid scarf+necklace) is a lovely cross-seasonal piece of adornment sutiable for weddings, festive feasts, garden parties or any occasion where a woman wishes to look effortlessly stunning with a single piece of adornment. The original, shown above, is fashioned with a mixture of luxe hand-dyed silk and ribbon yarns in shades of black, gold and cream. The golden dangles at the throat panel and ends could easily be changed to the more subdued luster of black pearls. Though it would cost a great deal for anyone to purchase the full skieins to compose a similiar scarf lace, with a kit  you won't have to. A kit saves you the tedious footwork of hunting and gathering while giving you the best chance to duplicate the effect of the original design.

Think the pattern looks difficult? It isn't. he complex look is due to the mixtures of stitches and textures, not the need for stitch gymnastics. If you can knit and purl, you can work this scarf. Though a piece of lace knitting makes up the original design, the patterns provides options for alternative routes.

Included in the Scarf Lace Kit besides the pattern:

Hand-dyed ribbon and yarn including Tilli Tomas 'Burnt Pepper' black silk with tiny copper beads threaded throughout, Judi&Co ribbon in the shade of frothy cream, a thick silken ribbon of lusterous coffe&cream hue, a black Tili Tomas Nile shantung silk ribbon, Trendsetter threaded gold and black yarn and another Tilli silk in a parchment shade plus black Mikado tape. An optional bead package is also available. The kit is available for $165 US plus shipping without the bead package and can be ordered directly from Jackie at Twoojzs@aol.com . Jackie has a range of beads available for you to select for both the neck feature and the two ends, including real onyx, amber and gold-toned coin and black pearls.

AMBER & ONYX WRAP KIT

Each Amber&Onx kit contains all the textured and silken yarns used in the original design including two colors of Hannal silk hand-dyed ribbons, Prism Dazzel ribbon in Mink, black popcorn and lash, Mikado black tape, Colinette Giotto tapen in Lichen, gold palimino silk yarn and a selection of copper and black accent yarns. An extra bead package of real amber beads for the ends are also available.
