THE COLOR GOLD TURNING GREEN

A feast of gold
My ode to gold melting into green, burnishing into red, like a sun-shifting lick of light illuminating the world….yes, I do remember my alliteration from years as an English major! Seriously though, indulge yourself for a moment in this most luminescent of colors, one that truly comes into its own this time of year when the northern hemisphere ripens into fall.
The collage above is composed of various Flicr photos (the authors of which I'm afraid I don't know to cite) and Flick will go on an automated hunt for all photos that contain the colors of your desire. I plugged in gold, brown and goldy-green and look what emerged. I love this collection. Quite by the miracle of coincidence, the photographers have all captured something magical in gold from the light shining on a lake to the brilliance of flowers blooming on the stem. In my knitting, these colors translated into:

Golden Grasses sleeve
But in life, I found them in the grasses and moss around my house…

Sometime between now and mid-October, my backyard will change from mysterious green to blinding gold as all the maples (and the Grandmother birch) have a cold shiver night. It's wonderful to warm my eyes with it just before the blues and whites of winter set in. Hope you had fun (and I KNOW you found inspiration) in the colors of the southwest!

Oh Jane! A truly gorgeous collage! I share your love of the colors of this season. I think the Creator gives us this incredible beauty to keep our souls nourished through the Winter. Thank you!
