SOUTHWEST INSPIRATION

SOUTHWEST RISING

Here's the design variation of the Scotian Meadow Wrap (gone Southwest), draped mysteriously over my rusty Mexican sun which currently hangs on the front porch. They look good together, don't you think? And, yes, the knitting does give the sun an almost Bedouin air but there's just something about this contradiction of elements that excites me.

And the colors. All righty then, what made Jane marry misty blue violet with rusty earthen hues? In one word: New Mexico. In previous trips, I've journeyed across the desert at dusk when the mountains cast long purply shadows in bands across the desert. I've never forgotten the shadowy blend. I had to knit them into this wrap as a kind of homage.

I'm calling this rendition Southwest Rising in honor of Ricki, Beth & Judy who chose the Scotian Meadow Wrap as the Santa Fe retreat's project. I just had to work a different variation, something totally different from the original wrap but what unfolded surprised even me. I ended up with a big, cosy, sleeved shawl, something that emerged very dramatic. MAybe I'll have to design a variation of the original wrap in case some of you want to knit this version, too…

Recent Comments love it. Another stunner. I can think of many dragon color ranges from my boys pokemon card collecting days! Blues eyes White Dragon was everyone's favorite.
