MARCH 7th, on my way to California

A melty gold and pearl sunset
The sunset shown above is pure Californian, a silken gold and pewter overlay that inspired me to gather my mother's pearls, a slice of Chinese silk, Art Yarns 'Paris Rain' beaded mohair and one of my favorite shells. It's an unusual color blend, isn't it? Makes me want to start knitting. Nothing new there.
Still, as you read this I am on my way to San Capistrano via San Franciso to do a two-day retreat on feather & fan. Since my birthday just happens to come to be along the way, it seems perfectly reasonable that we dawdle a bit along route 1 via Carmel, Monterey, and my other favorite Californian locations. How could I be expected to do otherwise? Besides, isn't California home to great knit shops and other passion feeds? Actually, I'm on a bit of a diet so I won't be able to indulge TOO much.

Yarn close up—this yarn truly has rain drops embedded
