LIVE FROM MOROCCO: PATTERN PLAY

Light on stone
If hot, bright, rich color isn't enough, this is also the land of intricate stone and wood carvings. The scenes of light washing across filigre is a never-ending source of wonder. The Arabic stone masons can make marble appear so airy like a whisper of stone etched in light. So many times I catch glimpses of this stone lace and imagine cascades of knitted lace superimposed across the marble.
