LEGENDS OF THE FALL
Here's my show off backyard maple. When I'm home and the sun beams onto her leaves, the reflection on my office walls could be a bonfire burning bright. It's a bit startling betimes. Strolling down to the river kicking up the leaves loosens whiffs of maple and that musky scent of organic matter restoring the earth. May I just say that, as usual, it's good to be home.
And yes, Turkey was fabulous with so much more to be explored. Before I left, the well-wishers warned me of danger due to Syria. It almost seemed as if we'd hear shell fire on the streets of Istanbul but you'd hardly know anything was afoot, Syria being over a thousand miles away and Turkey is a very large country.Turn on the TV and you see CNN or BBC….almost like being home. On the street, the Turks bustled about their daily lives, mindful of the crises but expecting the best, as do we all. We're planning a Silk Road Turkey 2013 so let's hope, on behalf of world peace, that matters will be resolved.
In the meantime, it's good to be home. And, thank you trees for the warm welcome.
