IRISH GREENS AWAITING

Our Irish Inn
What do you dream when you dream of Ireland? Leprecauns, fairy circles, Celtic mists, castles and Aran knits? Probably all of the above if you're like me. I know my romantic visions are very alive and well. Blame it on my part-Irish ancestry (I'm a mixed bag with multiple heritages), which creates a luminescent wash when I think of Ireland. If you put me down on a country road, I'm sure I'd find my way sight-unseen across the lush green landscape of my great-grandmother's home. She was a McCabe, one of those Irish 'Mc's' instead of a Scottish 'Mac', by the way. She had long red hair, which she kept coiled up on her head, never taking it down but for periodic washings.

Castle green
It seems many of us have the same longing to visit Ireland as I do so, in collaoration with a local Irish knitter, spinner, creator of fine yarns and travel-writer, Jo Kerrigan aka 'Celtic Jo' on Ravelry, we're inviting you to Ireland this June for a week's frolic in the Irish hills. The top photo shows our inn, the Gougane Barra Hotel, County Cork, known throughout the land for its fabulous food and cosy atmosphere. We're talking a genuine Irish Inn, the kind that has been welcoming travellers for centuries not a box hotel. What better way to soak up the peace while being inspired by one of the lushest landscapes in the world? They don't call this the 'Emerald Isle' for nothing.
Jo and I have a fabulous itinerary planned featured fireside knits, green walks, visits to ancient sites, stone circles and even a bonfire celebration on June 21st. Interested? Just click on the Register icon on the trip menu to the side, fill out the info and hit send so I can add you to the interested list.
