HOME IS WHERE THE STASH IS (and the bath tub, and the wood stove and the comforts…)

Purple morn
I didn't expect to enjoy winter so much. After I first retired from my old life and manifested into this designerly existence, I thought I'd spend time at home only in the summer months while flitting around doing that snowbirding thing during the chilly season. Tried that last year. Four months away from home turned out to be more grueling (spiritually and financially) than I ever expected. I missed home base, missed my bed (!), my bath tub (it's become a shower-only world) and so many other things so that now being home during the deep chill suits me just fine.
My days are often spent at the computer, writing and designing or lounging around in my stash room pondering color combinations. Every day I take myself out for a walk and once a week, Ilga Leja and I have our walk-and-talk design fest session where we inspire one another to new heights (check out the column about us coming up in the next issue of Vogue). At night I knit. Hey, this isn't a bad life at all!
But this weekend, I'm forcing myself away from the Inspired Knitters Club, away from the idea maelstrom that's been boiling away inside my head. February's issue's ready to roll. This weekend I'm making jewelry so be ready to see what I come up with in subsequent postings.
Here's my desk scene these days….

Jane, your Purple Morn image is breathtaking! Of course, I had to print it out to add to my stash of color inspirations.
