Beach Stitches

A path leads across the dunes on Prince Edward Island
I hear it's punishingly hot across parts of the USA while bits of Canada are also suffering from intense weather—hail the size of soft balls, tornatoes, wind storms—but here in the Atlantic provinces of Canada, we're finally getting summer. Last weekend, I packed my knitting and drove off to Prince Edward Island on the heels of Wills and Kate after they had long gone. The island is sweet, simply blissful, in summer months with lobster fests and beraches and craft/art galleries and lots to see and do, including absolutely nothing.
It just so happened that my project was dune-colored, especially fitting on the terra-cotta sands of PEI. I'm in love with this stitch that forms little tree trunks and branches in a lovely, evocative manner.

Love the stitch used in the dune-colored sample. Where can I find instructions?

This stitch looks interesting. Is that the 1000 branches stitch that we did for the kimono? Looks similiar. Melba

I don't know when I last saw something as lovely as this knit piece. I surely hope it becomes a pattern you're willing to share with all of us....simply awestruck.

Beautiful! And I was wondering to myself how you always managed to have yarn on hand that would match your surroundings when you were inspired. I can see exactly how this project could have evolved from your journalscaping.
