For me, colour and texture rule and most of the inspiration feeding my imagination comes from the natural world. I see knitting as art, as viable as any other, and no matter what the tool or preferred palette, in human hands, magic happens.

Our first club project for 2013 will be the Sunrise Vest, a design combining elements from the INNER CIRCLES E-BOOK and free-range knitting. Oh, and if you think those circle designs look intricate and way too hard for you, just know that they are deceptively simple. SO EASY. I love things that look complicated but aren't.
Join before January Ist and receive INNER CIRCLES as a bonus along with the following standard membership benefits for $75:

  • $40 worth of patterns
  • free patterns to download from the Members Library
  • a library of resources including small videos
  • 6 PDF Club Issues sent by email
  • Discounts on kits and yarn.

THE INSPIRED KNITTERS CLUB: KNIT OFF GRID

I began knitting 'off grid' when I realized I could no longer follow a pattern without great concentration and strain. Lines of knit code refused to compute in my occasionally addled brain. Every time I tried to knit one of those lovely patterns, my version looked nothing like the designer's photo. Holes appeared where they weren't supposed to be; stitches went askew and apparently I failed. Only I liked the results as much as the designer's original. I began to experiment, diving into my mistakers with gusto to play outside the lines.

That was way back in 2005. These days, I invite everyone to try knitting free-range where 'patterns' are recipees and no mistakes exist. The principle is simple: combine lovely yarns with simple stitches and create something unique and beautiful. No rules exist. You do not have to be an advanced knitter. If you can knit and purl, you're ready! The Inspired Knitters Club creates a cadre of adventuresome knitters ready to knit differently. Members come from all over the world and communicate either through Ravelry or the club's private membership forum. There is also a members library with downloadable resources and every member received $40 worth of PDF patterns plus 6 membership issues a year and 15% off all kits. It's a deal, an infusion of creative ideas  throughout the year and it doesn't matter when you join since every member receives exactly the same benefits whether they join in January or October.

Recent Comments I am delighted to find that you also write. I've been following your knitting site and was so happy that your novel is about an angel in New Orleans, well, maybe not "about" an angel, but it's in the title, so... I've visited New Orleans several times (Just 3) visiting my brother when he lived there and we combed through the cemeteries. That's where I found the angel who was sobbing with her head covered in grief for the passing of her sister. It was so moving that I have the photo framed in our hall. She's beautiful. Couldn't wait to order your book! Thanks!
