For me, colour and texture rule and most of the inspiration feeding my imagination comes from the natural world. I see knitting as art, as viable as any other, and no matter what the tool or preferred palette, in human hands, magic happens.

How I love a Road Trip

For all the traveling that I do, I confess I love nothing better than a road trip. Piling goodies into the car -- a picnic basket plus far more food than you'd probably ever eat under normal circumstances -- feels like I've just escaped into summer.

And my knitting baskets! Unlike flying, I have no restrictions as to weight or entanglement factors. Already two big project baskets sit heaped full. Well, I rationalize, 8 days of driving equals significant knitting time so I'd best be prepared. Of course, I'll leave no yarn store unturned en route to Maryland (and I understand there are quite a few along the way). Best of all, this mode of transportation eliminates all the trials of air travel, of which I'm too aware: the security checks, the nude scanning machines, the glowery customs officers, the delays, the stop overs, the missed planes. Recent Comments I am delighted to find that you also write. I've been following your knitting site and was so happy that your novel is about an angel in New Orleans, well, maybe not "about" an angel, but it's in the title, so... I've visited New Orleans several times (Just 3) visiting my brother when he lived there and we combed through the cemeteries. That's where I found the angel who was sobbing with her head covered in grief for the passing of her sister. It was so moving that I have the photo framed in our hall. She's beautiful. Couldn't wait to order your book! Thanks!
